Technological innovation is driving the upgrading of manufacturing; future technology is powering the development of smart mobility.

In recent years, the intelligent transformation of China's automotive industry has continued to accelerate, with strong national policy support serving as the core driver of technological innovation and industrial upgrading. The 14th Five-Year Plan explicitly calls for using technological innovation as an engine to advance manufacturing toward high-end, intelligent development—injecting powerful momentum into "Made in China."

On December 12, the national finals of the 9th "Maker China" SME Innovation & Entrepreneurship Competition came to a successful close. FUTURUS won the first prize in the enterprise category with its innovation project, "Development and Industrialization of AR Automotive Head-Up Display Technology." Recognized by the judges for its distinctive technological innovation, strong software, hardware, and algorithm capabilities, and broad industrial application prospects, the achievement not only demonstrates FUTURUS's leading position in the AR-HUD field, but also injects new vitality into the upgrading of China's smart automotive industry and further consolidates the strategic standing of "Made in China" in the global wave of intelligentization.

FUTURUS's award reflects the rapid rise of Chinese technology companies in core smart-automotive technologies, and underscores the broad prospects of driving the high-quality development of "China Smart Manufacturing" through technological innovation.

About the Competition

Jointly organized by the MIIT Cybersecurity Industry Development Center (MIIT Information Center), the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Guangdong Province, and the Dongguan Municipal People's Government, the competition aims to discover and support SME projects with high growth potential and strong innovative capacity, driving high-quality industrial development. This edition attracted approximately 35,000 registered projects, with the Top 50 enterprises and Top 10 makers advancing to the national finals. Alongside project roadshows, judging, and the awards ceremony, the event also featured an achievement exhibition, a physical showcase of outstanding projects, working symposiums, and project-lead exchange sessions—providing participating companies a platform to present results, share experience, and expand collaboration.

At the finals, Xu Junfeng, Founder and CEO of FUTURUS, gave a detailed presentation on the company's world-first automotive Augmented Reality product based on multi-focal-plane light-field technology—the Light-Field AR HUD. Slated for mass production and market launch in early 2025, the product ushers in a new era for in-vehicle display and interaction technologies.

By delivering AR interaction information with a genuine sense of spatial depth, the Light-Field AR HUD achieves precise fusion of intelligent driving data, digital map navigation, and the real-world road environment and conditions—greatly enhancing the safety and comfort of smart driving while comprehensively optimizing the smart-cockpit user experience. At the same time, the product combines openness with forward-looking design: it seamlessly connects with ecosystems such as AGI (Artificial General Intelligence) and LBS (Location-Based Services), deeply uncovering and addressing users' latent needs to deliver precise, non-intrusive personalized services, further driving the build-out and upgrade of the in-vehicle intelligent business ecosystem.

This time, leveraging its technological innovation strength and broad industrial application prospects, FUTURUS won the first prize in the enterprise category at the national finals. This is not only high recognition of its R&D achievements, but also a testament to the company's leading position and deep expertise in automotive display technology.
