Automechanika Frankfurt 2024 was held from September 10th to 14th at the Messe Frankfurt Exhibition Center in Germany. FUTURUS presented a number of in-vehicle innovations, such as Light Field AR-HUD, Full-Scene AR-HUD, Full-Scene WHUD, and Standard WHUD, at Booth H12.1-B66.

The four products presented at Automechanika Frankfurt 2024 all represent the latest cutting-edge technology and the highest experience level of the HUD industry, and will show the world the latest achievements of China's intelligent automobile industry, and further solidify the leading position of China's intelligent automobile industry in the global technological revolution.


FUTURUS has an advanced optical innovation, software development and project management team, which can realize clear, detailed, distortion-free, ghosting-free, grain-free HD HUD optical design. Our self-developed AR real-time rendering engine, AR Kernel®, can realize high-frame-rate, high-performance real-time 3D rendering. And based on multi-sensor integration algorithms, spatial motion gesture capture and time-delay compensation algorithms, it can also realizes precise delay control, reduces the sense of vertigo, and realizes a stable fit between the HUD display and the real driving environment.


Up to now, the cumulative shipments of FUTURUS' HUD products have exceeded 500,000 units, with customers including BMW, Audi, SAIC, Li Auto, NIO, Great Wall, Geely, BYD and other head OEMs.

FUTURUS has created the world's first standard WHUD product that can truly replace traditional instrument. In addition to displaying various types of information on the instrument panel (speed, tire pressure, fuel consumption, speed limit, warnings, etc.), it can also project information from the center control, such as navigation, assisted driving, and city NOA, to help drivers focus on the road in front of them, and to further improve driving safety. This product has been successfully equipped on Li Auto L series models.


Full-Scene WHUD upgraded on the basis of the standard version of WHUD, under the support of our self-developed PGU, it can realize ultra-high brightness, high uniformity, high contrast screen display, and still ensure clear visibility under various extreme brightness environments, such as backlight in summer noon, reflection of the white car in front of you, and headlights at night, etc., and truly realize full-scene, all-weather application, and build a solid base for completely replacement of the traditional instrumentation.


Through augmented reality technology, AR-HUD projects navigation guidance information directly onto the road surface, adopts virtual arrows integrated with the real road to guide the vehicle forward, and prompts the vehicle to change lanes and make turns in advance, without requiring the driver to think extra. It can also combine with the actual road conditions to provide drivers with night vision systems, collision warning, lane keeping, lane departure warning, blind zone warning, pedestrian warning, obstacle warning, traffic light monitoring and other services. Compared with WHUD, AR-HUD greatly improves the driver's experience during the driving process, providing them with intuitive, no-thinking driving guidance.

FUTURUS' Full-Scene AR-HUD and Light Field AR-HUD are based on WHUD's high-quality optical experience. At the hardware level, our self-developed 3D virtual image display can realize optical depth and spatial sense, project 3D light field holographic images with ultra-high luminance, ultra-long distance, super-large picture, multiple depths of field and even continuous depth of field. And at the software and algorithm level, our algorithm team was built in 2019, and we spent 5 years on continuous optimization and iteration of our exclusive AR real-time rendering engine AR Kernel®, which is based on multi-sensor integration algorithms, spatial motion gesture capture and time-delay compensation algorithms, to achieve a high-frame-rate, high-performance real-time 3D rendering, thus be able to achieve a stable fit of the HUD display with the real driving environment. With strong sense of space, hierarchy, distance and guidance, compared to the ordinary 2D HUD products with a single plane, it can achieve better AR integration effect and more natural visual experience. The light field AR-HUD product will be mass-produced on the strategic model of a new leading brand in China at the beginning of 2025.
